Delicious Dishes Catering
To start out with my new culinary degree, my aunt and I have decided to try out catering. So far we have had a lot of fun and had just a few jobs. A couple jobs are my aunt helping out people and I am just around for the truck
My aunt has most of the creativity as far as decorating goes, I just prepare the food.
Our first job was a wedding in September that got cancelled the week before it was supposed to take place. There were a few challenges that I overcame even though the big day didn’t take place. The biggest of those obstacles was making a gluten free cake that still tasted like a regular cake. I finally figured it out after a bit of research and it came out not too bad. I am not sure making it taste “just” like a regular cake but I guess my expectations are a little high being my first job and all.
Then I helped my aunt with a “Pastor Appreciation Dinner” at her church that was very extravagant. The theme was Chicago because that was the pastors favorite band/city. I will make a page for this party so you can see the pictures from it. It turned out amazing, my aunt is a genius at theme parties. I just made the Chicago Hot Dogs.
Now we are planning on our BIG wedding for the day after Thanksgiving. It is for 300+ people, Italian food which includes meatballs made from scratch of course, sausage and peppers, penne pasta, homemade bread, plus a few others items. I will also keep you posted on this catering gig.
The week after that job we have a Guild meeting for 120 people, that will be a breakfast which I am excited about. I love to make breakfast and desserts. More my style.
I plan to use this page for all my catering updates and even include pictures of some of the fun stuff we have been buying for the business. Eventually I plan to turn this business into a bakery down the road so I am trying to keep the purchase smart.
